Following Sleeper’s huge release, Chestplate summons back Sleeper’s partner in crime District for their latest release with ‘Alpha House’ and ‘Inorganic’. Since last appearing back in April last year, District has been relatively quite, but opens 2015 in fine style with this slab of wax.
‘Alpha House’ is built ground up with a restrained 808 drum palate as glossy Bladerunner synth work conjure future world cities within the mind. Down below a lumbering sub in the steppa tradition gets itself bloody in a back-alley brawl.
Meanwhile, ‘Inorganic’ harkens back to FWD>> in the Velvet Room with a 2-step rhythmic itch. Gaseous, claustrophobic atmospheres only add to the sense of paranoia. And to top it off, a plummeting b-line that’ll give you and the speaker cones a workout.
