If you aren’t familiar with this group, Submotion Orchestra is a live 7-piece project from Leeds, incorporating deep bass-driven grooves and dense textures in their progressive live dubstep sound. Having only formed in early 2009 as an experimental outfit, the band have quickly established themselves as one of the most exciting acts in the UK. They released their debut LP last year entitled “Finest Hour” and it contained ten beautiful compositions, full of blissful tones and weighty sub-bass, interwoven with angelic vocals and tight rhythmic intensity. It was a brave attempt to bridge bass music with jazz, and they succeeded with flying colours. The album was magnificent. Fast forward a year, following a hugely successful tour, they’re on the verge of releasing their second LP, “Fragments”. Containing the well received hits, “It’s Not Me It’s You” and “Blind Spot”, the band continue their legacy with their winning formula to fabricate once again, an irresistible record of sublime rhythms and harmonic numbers. From the brisk piano led “Intro”, to the heavenly pleasures of “Snow” or maybe the vibrant instrumental of “Bird of Prey”, even the smallest of fragments from their second helping will delight all.
