Perfect for your Christmas stockings! Chestplate unearths the five track EP ‘Resurrection’ from Sleeper and District in a label first – a purely digital release. Many of these tunes date back when Sleeper and District were an unstoppable production duo, unleashing torrents of dubs that found their way into the sets of Distance, Youngsta, Kryptic Minds and others. The ‘Resurrection’ EP may not rewrite the dubstep rulebook – but these dubs, that I thought were never going to see the light of day, are now the world’s to own. Additionally, the EP is a reflection of just how far both Sleeper and District have come as producers and a snap shot of what made them such a revelation to hear in 2011 and 2012.
Tracks like ‘Innate’, ‘Kuduro’ and ‘Overflow’ explore and play with the pure dread rollidge that’s been squirming its way to the vanguard of the underground scene and are perfect to slip in between both those older and newer Killawatt, Thelem and KM technoid riddims. On the other hand, ‘Resurrection’, ‘War’ and ‘Psychosis’ go straight for the throat. All three are pure and absolute floor wreckers and 100% Grade A Kobe beef rwd<< material. Classic rudeboy business for sure.
The ‘Resurrection’ EP closes out the year for Chestplate, which has been pretty quite as of late. However, with such a strong release of tracks in the EP, Chestplate looks poised and ready to dominate 2014 with serious bass heft.
