TRUSIK Recommends: December 2019

There are literal metric tons of new records being released every month. We figured we’d put together a monthly list of our favourites to help you cut through the noise. No genre or tempo is off limits, nor are our lists meant to be exhaustive, but we hope that these lists will expand your record collections and DJ sets with producers and songs you may have otherwise not have heard before.

Krytikal & L Nix | Vinyl Vigilance

Slept-on this one, my bad! but crucial ’08 wobblers. Strictly for big bois and big girls only.

Bash – Jubilee / Al Wootton Remix | TRULE

Al Wottoon’s TRULE label brings a different 2-step flex from Bash. A smoov garage tune with a melancholic melody backed by an AW remix that dubs up the proceedings.

LUSS – Simple Dub / Summit | Challenger Deep

Cut from the Rhythm and Sound framework laid down in Berlin, Challenger Deep enlists Luss for two meditative workouts.

Unknown Artist – XXX / Gully | Are You Gunna Hold It Down?

Mysterious white label business that harkens back to DMZ-era dubstep; slow as molasses beats and oppressive sub weight as Rasta chatter echos into infinity.

Oxóssi – Blackhorse | Banana Stand Sound

Banana Stand enlists Oxóssi for a hot steppa three tracker that really moves the needle on beyond 808s and chime samples. Highly recommended!

VA – Chapter II | DeepEnd!

Low-slung sludge from DubDiggerz and the rest of the Slovenian DeepEnd Movement crew; FLO, Gisaza, Kanomotis and CLZ. For those that like their dubstep industrial strength.

Bakground & Sangam – 90s Living EP | Lobster Theremin

Throw-back jungle style! Lush pads, crunchy amens, and sky-gazing atmospherics that just float off into the endless horizon.

Dead Man’s Chest – Lo-Freq Soul EP | Western Lore

By now, you should know we love some DMC. His latest release isn’t any different. Peep Haunted Dub!

VA – Deeper Wrestling | AE Recordings Iceland

A four tracker of icy, chilled out Scandinavian techno vibes from AE Recordings. Especially crucial for low-key after hours or early opening sets.

Okand Konstnar – Chorded Keyset | Until My Heart Stops

Mystical techno from the Until My Heart Stops record label. Mercurial, offset and insistent in its tribalist agenda, this record is the pick of the litter!
