Review: Nanobyte – Kalyke EP [IMR006]

The Innamind label continues to go from strength to strength with each release. IMR006 see’s the Cardiff duo dropping a solid four track EP entitled “Kalyke”. It’s a magnificent addition to the Innamind catalogue following the well received “Cave Dance” EP by two of the scene’s most promising producers, Gantz & Congi.

Drawing influences from artists such as Synkro, Phaeleh, and Jack Sparrow, Nanobyte have been building “cinematic sound rooted in rumbling basslines, heavily influenced by film scores and popular culture”. This is clearly evident on “Kalyke”. The highlight on the EP for me is “Lost Time”. 7 ½ minutes of pure ambient bliss. Tranquil and melodic, soothing the soul with it’s rolling bassline and heart warming vocals, make it a perfect finale to Nanobyte’s finest release yet.

IMR006 is out now and available from Juno Download.
